CIDOC/MDA conference 1999

Alice Grant

The CIDOC conference for 1999 is to be held in London, in partnership with the MDA. The conference theme will be the development and delivery of information resources for diverse audiences and will be from September 6th-10th 1999.

The venue for the conference is to be Imperial College in South Kensington, situated literally next door to the Science Museum, across the road from the Victoria & Albert Museum and round the corner from the Natural History Museum, with Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens just a few moments walk away.

Delegates will have the opportunity to visit behind the scenes at some of London's most famous museums and galleries and in South Kensington itself, apart for the cultural offerings, there is a wealth of restaurants, bars and shops. Despite the central location of the conference however, inexpensive accommodation will be available at Imperial College and we hope to recreate the friendly village-like atmosphere which was such an enjoyable feature of the Nurnburg conference last year.

The MDA and CIDOC have a long history of co-operation and like CIDOC, MDA is accustomed to welcoming delegates from across the globe to its annual conferences. We hope that by working together on the 1999 conference we will be able to draw on the experience and knowledge held by members of both organisations' communities. Further information will be available at the Trienniale conference in Melbourne, followed by a call for papers in the Autumn.

We look forward very much indeed to welcoming you to London in 1999.
