Sources of information: guides to the Internet

Introduction

This page summarises some of the guides to the Internet relevant to museums. It focuses on books, omitting references to sources that are only available on-line on the Internet. It has been developed by the International Committee for Documentation of the International Council of Museums ( ICOM-CIDOC ).

The references are grouped in two sections:

General guides to the Internet

A large number of books have been published about the Internet in the last two years, some of which are accompanied by CD-ROMs with various programs. If you do not already have a selection of titles, you might like to look through the following. This is a selection of current editions of books that have proved useful while learning about the Internet and using Internet services. The initial selection was made by Andrew Roberts, with subsequent additions from Leonard Will and contributors to CIDOC-L. A number of the French references have been taken from the French-language version of the ICOM Web style guide. If you have other favourites which you think should be included in this list, please contact Leonard Will .
