Foreword = avant-propos

The following directory has been compiled on the basis of a survey of museum information centres prepared by Leonard Will for the working group, in 1993.

This list aims at presenting the variety existing in museum information centres, i.e.:

1. libraries/documentation centres dealing with museological reference material only;
2. libraries/documentation centres belonging to institutions that train museum professionals;
3. libraries/documentation centres attached to conservation/restoration institutes;
4. libraries/documentation centres that form a part of a national museum library;
5. libraries/documentation centres serving national inventory services;
6. libraries/documentation centres attached to national museum associations.

Le répertoire ci-dessous a été préparé à partir d'une enquête sur les centres d'information muséologiques réalisée par Leonard Will en 1993.

Cette liste tend à présenter la diversité existant dans ce domaine, telle que la présentation suivante l'indique:

1. bibliothèques/centres de documentation dont les fonds consistent en ouvrages de référence dans le domaine purement muséologique;
2. bibliothèques/centres de documentation qui dépendent d'institutions de formation de professionnels de musée;
3. bibliothèques/centres de documentation reliés à des instituts de conservation/restauration;
4. bibliothèques/centres de documentation faisant partie d'une bibliothèque de musée national;
5. bibliothèques/centres de documentation dépendant de services nationaux d'inventaire;
6. bibliothèques/centres de documentation servant des associations nationales de musées.
