The 1997 Annual Meeting will be held at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Museum for German Culture) in Nurnberg (Germany), from September 7-11. The organising committee, which includes CIDOC members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, finally agreed on "Quality and Documentation" as an overall theme for the conference. Papers will therefore concentrate on subjects such as quality assurance through the use of standards (data structure, data exchange formats, thesauri) and quality enhancement through the professionalisation of documentation activities. After the conference, workshops will allow participants to gain additional knowledge on subjects such as project management, terminology control, multimedia and the Internet. During an open forum, museums will have the opportunity briefly to present their own projects. A commercial exhibition will be open to hardware and software vendors.
We hope that this meeting - the first of its kind in a German speaking country - will lead to fruitful exchanges of information between participants. Languages will be English, French and German with simultaneous translation during plenary sessions.
