The CIDOC Services Workgroup promotes and helps disseminate publications and papers of other CIDOC Workgroups to a broad museum audience. The WG also produced a series of factsheets which provide quick-reference guides to essential museum documentation procedures. Two factsheets are now available, on the regi-stration of objects sent to the museum, and on numbering and marking the finds. Both factsheets have been translated into various languages. They are available to ICOM members and museum professionals through the ICOM Secretariat in Paris as well as on the CIDOC World Wide Web server. A third factsheet is currently in production. It will deal with the necessary steps to ensure electronic data security.

In recent years we have seen an ever-widening spectrum of titles being published and made available by the different CIDOC Workgroups. Ranging from publications on standards to Internet documents. The Services WG is currently compiling a list of such publications. The list will include both paper-based and electronic publications, distribution lists ("listservs") etc. and will be made available to all interested museum professionals. Full details about format and language versions as well as ordering information will be available for each publication. The WG has sent out questionnaires to all WG Chairs as a first step towards compiling this publication list, which will be updated regularly.
